The Safeguarding in Education group is a subsidiary group of the Peterborough Safeguarding Children Board (PSCB). The work of PSCB is part of the wider context of Children’s Trust co-operation that aim to improve the overall well being (i.e. the five Every Child Matters outcomes) of all children in the local area in accordance with the CYPP.
The overall purpose of the group is to act as a consultation group to the Board from a variety of education settings.

The Safeguarding in Education group will deliver the following objectives:
It will act as a conduit to and from the board and its constituent groups
to provide feedback on PSCB policies and practice
from an education setting perspective, to identify areas for development including practice and training needs
to provide a forum for interested staff to discuss local safeguarding issues
to enable interested staff to receive face to face updates on local and national practice, legislation and guidance including the work of PSCB
to incorporate education setting’s staff views into safeguarding board consultation responses

The chair will be a member of the PSCB Operational Chairs group and will report to each PSCB meeting regarding progress of actions identified against the work plan.
The Chair may set up time limited task and finish groups as appropriate to deliver its objectives.

The Safeguarding in Education group will include membership from:
Members will take the responsibility for attending meetings, fully contributing by bringing expertise to the task and informing their respective agencies of issues and developments.

The Safeguarding in Education Group is accountable to PSCB
The Safeguarding in Education Group will meet every half term.
Administrative support will be provided by a LA administrator or the Chair and the work will be supported by the PSCB Business Manager
