Purpose

The Safer Employment Board site beneath and reposts to Peterborough Safeguarding Children’s Board (PSCB). The work of PSCB is part of the wider context of children’s trust co-operation that aim to improve the wellbeing (i.e. the five Every Child Matters outcomes) of all children in the local area in accordance with the CYPP.

To establish effective recruitment processes and practice to keep Children and Young People safe including preventing unsuitable people working with them, promoting safe practice and challenging poor and unsafe practice, identifying instances in which there is ground for concern and initiating appropriate action.

The Safer Employment Operations Group will deliver the following objectives:

To enable the development and planning of safer recruitment procedures and practice

To enable training and awareness raising to be provided on safe employment practice

To ensure that advice, guidance and support is communicated to all agencies and settings

To contribute to a Safer Recruitment Strategy/Policy for Children’s Services

To monitor the effectiveness of safe recruitment policies and practice

The Safer Employment Group will meet six weekly. Administrative support will be provided by the PSCB Business Support Officer and the work of the group will be supported by the PSCB Business Manager.
