The SCRP sits beneath and reports to Peterborough Safeguarding Children Board (PSCB). The work of PSCB is part of the wider context of Children’s Trust co-operation that aim to improve the overall well being (i.e. the five Every Child Matters outcomes) of all children in the local area
The overall purpose of the group is to undertake reviews of cases where abuse or neglect of a child is known or suspected, a child has died or a child has been seriously harmed, and there is cause for concern as to the way in which the authority, their Board partners or other relevant persons have worked together to safeguard the child.

The SCRP will deliver the following objectives:
Define terms of reference
Commission individual management reviews
Receive and comment on the IMR reports
Commission an independent overview author
Receive and comment on the overview report
Recommend PSCB endorse the report and agree the recommendations and action plan
Ensure the Executive Summary is published
Ensure the action plan is carried out
Ensure lessons are disseminated and acted on
Ensure local policy is revised and developed

The chair of the SCRP is also the Independent Chair of PSCB and will report to PSCB meeting.
The Chair may set up time limited task and finish groups as required and ask the General Issues Group to deliver on its objectives.

The standing SCRP will consist of:
Should expert advice be required, other agencies will be approached to provide a representative for panel.
If any agency representative is unable to attend they must provide a deputy.

The SCRP will be convened when required.
Administrative support will be provided by the PSCB Administrator and the work of the panel will be supported by the PSCB Business Manager.
