The communication and information group sits beneath and reports to Peterborough Safeguarding Children Board (PSCB). The work of PSCB is part of the wider context of children’s trust co-operation that aim to improved the overall wellbeing (i.e. the five Every Child Matters outcomes) of all children in the local area.

The overall purpose of the group is to communicate to "persons and bodies" in the area of the authority the need to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, raising their awareness of how this can best be done and encouraging them to do so.

| a. | Develop an effective marketing strategy, to include website, newsletters, leaflets and presentations. |
| b. | contribute to a public campaign to raise awareness in: |
|
|
| about how everybody can contribute to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children |
|
| c. | listening to and consulting with children and young people to ensure their views and opinions are taken into account in planning and delivering safeguarding and promoting welfare services. |
| d | Promote the development of new policies, initiatives and learning from serious case reviews and child death reviews. |

The chair will be a member of the PSCB Operational Chairs group and will report to each PSCB meeting.
The Chair may set up time limited task and finish groups as required to deliver its objectives.
The action plan will be reviewed at each Communication and Information group meeting.

Members will take responsibility for attending meetings, fully contributing by bringing expertise to the task and informing their respective agencies of issues and developments.

Communication and Information group will meet six weekly in the first instance.
Administrative support will be provided by the PSCB Administrator and the work of the group will be supported by the PSCB Business Manager.
