The Policy, Practice and Procedure(PPP) Group is a joint group with Cambridgeshire LSCB.

The policy, practice and procedures group sits beneath and reports to Peterborough Safeguarding Children Board (PSCB). The work of PSCB is part of the wider context of Children’s Trust co-operation that aim to improve the overall well being (i.e. the five Every Child Matters outcomes) of all children in the local area in accordance with the CYPP

The overall purpose of the group is to develop policies and procedures to support effective local work which will contribute especially to "staying safe". The group will also identify areas for inter-agency practice development as a result of serious case reviews, CDOP, local issues or from government guidance.

| The policy, practice and procedures group will deliver the following objectives: | |
| a. | Develop policies and procedures for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in the area including: |
|
|
| b. | Establishing effective policies and procedures, based on national guidance, for checking the suitability of people applying for work with children and ensuring that the children’s workforce is properly supervised, with any concerns acted on appropriately. |
| c. | Ensure there are procedures in place to investigate allegations made against people working with children and ensure that allegations are dealt with properly and quickly. |
| d | Ensure co-ordination and effective implementation of measures, designed to strengthen private fostering notification arrangements. |
| e. | Establish procedures to safeguard and promote the welfare of children who move between local authority areas, including as a result of out of area placements |
| f. | Consider the need for other local protocols according to identified need. |

The chair will be a member of the PSCB Operational Chairs group and will report to each PSCB meeting regarding progress of actions identified against the PPP work plan.
The Chair may set up time limited task and finish groups as required to deliver its objectives.
The action plan will be reviewed at each PPP meeting.

The policy, practice and procedures group will include membership from those listed below and will be a joint group with Cambridgeshire LSCB.:
- Police Chair
- Children’s Services
- NHS Peterborough & Cambridgeshire
- Peterborough NHS Hospital Trust
- NHS Hospital Trust
- Housing Providers
- Voluntary Sector
Each member will have the appropriate skills base required to effectively execute the group’s work plan.
Members will take the responsibility for attending meetings, fully contributing by bringing expertise to the task and informing their respective agencies of issues and developments.
Membership may vary depending on the needs of the work plan.

Policy, Practice and Procedures group is accountable to PSCB
Policy, Practice and Procedures group will meet six weekly in the first instance The Chair will determine the frequency of meetings depending on the needs of the work plan.
Administrative support will be provided by the PSCB Administrator and the work of PPP will be supported by the PSCB Business Manager.
