The quality assurance group sits beneath and reports to Peterborough Safeguarding Children Board (PSCB). The work of PSCB is part of the wider context of Children’s Trust co-operation that aim to improve the overall well being (i.e. the five Every Child Matters outcomes) of all children in the local area.

The overall purpose of the group is to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of what is done by the local authority and board partners individually and collectively to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and advise them on ways to improve.

The quality assurance group will deliver the following objectives through the development of a quality assurance framework:

Require individual organisations who have a duty under S11 of the Children Act 2004 to self audit annually

Develop joint audits of case files to identify the quality of practice and lessons to be learned
-
Scrutinise the Children’s Trust dataset, highlighting where practice has fallen below an acceptable standard and ensuring action is taken.

Establish a culture of continuous improvement.

The chair will be a member of the PSCB Operational Chairs group and will report to each PSCB meeting.
The Chair may set up time limited task and finish groups as required to deliver its objectives.

The quality assurance group will include membership from:

Police

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Foundation Trust

Probation
Members will take responsibility for attending meetings, fully contributing by bringing expertise to the task and informing their respective agencies of issues and developments.

Quality Assurance group will meet six weekly in the first instance.
Administrative support will be provided by the PSCB Administrator and the work of the QA group will be supported by the PSCB Business Manager.
